My Skills

Experience

Web Developer & E-Business Consultant

Baltimore, USA

As an undergrad and eager intern, I had the opportunity to dive right into a site overhaul that included a Content Management System (CMS) built from scratch for a University in Baltimore; completing frontend and backend web development work (HTML, CSS, and ASP classic). Fast-forward, I've seen action in every stage of website/web application development - from requirements gatherings to coding to training - and learned a tremendous amount through working alongside company founders.

Skills:
  • Responsive Website Development
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • HTML5, CSS3
  • Requirements Gathering
  • Web & Live IT training
  • Site measurement and analytics reports
  • Evaluating emerging digital technology
  • SEO/SEM, social media, email marketing, traffic growth, brand strategy
Experience:
  • Strategic consulting and conceptualization offering well-conceived solutions to business problems that add value, and pick up on nuances of client culture, interaction, and communications
  • Built proprietary content management systems for a Baltimore University, a National Television Station, and an International Religious Organization
  • Managing teams of 5-10 designers, developers, copywriters, and contracted firms throughout project lifecycles

International Program Manager

Baltimore, USA / Nanjing, China

Responsible for the full scope of needs (minus education) for a university international academic program - financial, marketing, staffing, and scheduling. Being instrumental in the launch of 2 startup study abroad programs was the top highlight in this position. Creating and leading the marketing and recruiting campaigns, I tripled the participation rate of both international programs during my tenure.

Responsibilities:
  • Managed multiple program budgets totaling over $350,000
  • Developed and maintained 4 departmental websites using multiple CMS packages
  • Managed all print, web, and face-to-face marketing campaigns for various programs and events
  • Authored, designed, and contracted printers for annual newsletters and other marketing materials
Experience:
  • Interfaced with faculty, prospective students and families, undergraduate and graduate students, university administration and staff, and guests from other universities (domestic and international)
  • Conducted pre-departure & post-arrival orientation during the launch of 2 China-based study abroad programs
  • Completed Mandarin language courses to further develop speaking and reading skills

University ESL Instructor

Shanghai, China

As soon as I was able to read, I taught myself how to use chopsticks, and always wondered why everything was “Made in China”. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in the idea of traveling, exploring, and speaking other languages. Prior to finishing my last semester in college, with no knowledge of China and/or the language, I secured an English teaching position at a University in Shanghai, China.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching 8 Business English and writing skills courses to undergraduate students
  • Providing students with tools to combat problems that are inherent when learning a foreign language
  • Developing lesson plans, class lectures, homework assignments, and exams
  • Helping students become more comfortable and confident when interacting with native English speakers
Experience:
  • Outside of the classroom, I traveled to 13 cities, guided visiting family and friends around China, and even worked as a model and DJ.
  • Building meaningful relationships with coworkers, locals, and long-term expats allowed me ample practice for my new mandarin skills and to also genuinely experience the culture of Shanghai and China
  • Tremendous personal growth as a result of living in & adapting to a new culture, and learning the language
